The spin foam was born in February 2020, as a spin-off of an important reality operating for several years in Electronic Production Services and obtaining the qualification of innovative start-up. In this development program, our company aims to make a significant contribution to the “Project-Produce-Use-Repair-Reuse-Recycle-Dispose” process, operating with innovative technologies. This is very close to the ideal of an absolutely waste-free Circular Economy, also supported by a complete recovery of raw materials already planned in the design phase!
One of our projects, for example, concerns the extension of the average life of products using new semiconductors called Wide Band Gap, such as Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Gallium Nitride (GaN). These are revolutionizing the power electronics industry; they reach a surface power density that was unthinkable a few months ago and such a high frequency that it is possible, for example, to implement the 5G network. Furthermore, this family of new semiconductors works correctly even at high temperatures, impracticable with the old silicon, and therefore requiring the use of much smaller cooling fins than those used in the past.
Another technology, approached with great interest by our project, involves the use of new materials, such as Perowskite, which used in photovoltaic panels and / or ionizing radiation detectors, allows to reach previously unimaginable levels of performance.
Thanks to the use of Perowskite, a material abundantly present in nature with very low extraction costs, the price of solar panels can be reduced from ½ to ¼ of € / W, increasing their performance from 15% to 30%. The same technology used in the radiation detectors will allow the development of Dynamic Fluoroscopy, thus allowing the reduction of the dose of ionizing radiation absorbed by the patient.
